Ok, you’re researching wood boilers and there are a few options out there. If you’re reading this you know that HeatMaster boilers have one of the longest warranties (20 years) in the business, are sold and supported by knowledgeable local dealers and they’ve been made in Canada for over 20 years.
Now it’s time to decide which way to go…. G Series or MF Series.
When it comes to deciding if the G Series (gasification furnace / down draft) or MF Series (conventional furnace / updraft) which HeatMaster wood boiler is right for you there are three things to look at:
1.) Will your fuel be seasoned (20% internal moisture content or less) or semi seasoned?
If you answered seasoned then the G Series is the way to go. If your wood is going to be on the semi seasoned side or you might not always have the time to split your firewood then the MF Series is the way to go.
2.) Do you want to spend money or time?
While the MF Series is a bit cheaper in terms of purchase price per BTU created it will also use more fuel than the G Series. If you have lots of fuel, the time and / or people power to get it to the boiler and load the boiler then go with the MF Series. If you would rather spend a bit more money up front but less time working with wood then look seriously at the G Series.
3.) Do you want to “fire and forget” or “work smarter, not harder”?
Any gasification boiler requires a bit more interaction from the operator vs. a conventional boiler. Ensuring your wood is seasoned, stacking it in the boiler and ensuring you clean out the ash regularly are all “must do”s” to have your G Series operate at peek efficiency.

G Series
The HeatMaster G Series (G stands for gasification) wood boiler is the way to go if you want more heat with less work. Gasification basically means you are using every BTU available from your fuel by burning any smoke that is created (smoke is unburnt fuel). More information on gasification below:

If your fuel is seasoned (20% internal moisture content or less) then the G Series is for you.
